Our Stud is situated 22km from Lichtenburg in the North West Province. We have always loved horses and since our daughter, Luzette, started riding at the age of 7, we have had horses. Her love for these magnificent annimals also made us love them more and soon we all wanted our own horses.
I have always loved and admired the (Iberian) Andalusian and Friesian breeds. One day while browsing the web, looking for Andalusian horses, I stumbled upon a website which had Andalusian, Friesian and Warlander sport horses for sale. I was very surprised at the Warlander breed of which by that time I have never heard of before. I soon dicovered that a Warlander is a cross between a Andalusian and a Friesian horse. I also discovered that in ancient times, around the 16th century, the Moors have already bred these horses. It was only recently that the Warlander was named. In the year 2000 the Warlander was registered as a breed on it's own and is regogonised as a separate breed.
Once I had discovered these most wonderfull horses, I was tempted to start a stud and breeding programme of my own. I realized that this was something special and that it was what I wanted to do, something special. I searched the web for more breeders of Warlander horses. The final decision was made in 2007 to finally start the Stud and breeding programme. I was spoiled with my first Friesian mare,Yene's Topaz Princess, for my birthday and we have been going since then. We also decided to give our stud a Spanish theme, because it is the origin of the Andalusian Horse. We totaly and truly love this breed and are in the process of importing. Eventually I did find more Warlander breeders in the USA. One Warlander colt, on sale at Abacus Farms, California from Holly Zech caught my eye and stole my heart from the moment I first saw him. Read more about IMPUESTO and Abacus Farms on our WARLANDER STALLION PAGE. We imported him as a wonderfull sire and start to our Warlander stud.
Visit the link page to Holly's website and a full story about our stallion called Yene's Abacus Impuesto being imported to South Africa from Abacus Farms in The United States of America.
By the time our new stallion arrived, it was almost time for our first Warlander, bred at Yene Stud, to be born. We bred some of our Friesian mares to the only Black Andalusian Stallion in South Africa. His name is Carlo I (the first) and he is standing at the stud of Mrs. Claudia Privato from Yeguada El Encanto - The Enchanted Stud in JHB.
